From Mark Upton Artist
Mark has achieved great success as a country sports artist in the United Kingdom where he is known for painting traditional country scenes in England and Scotland of hunting, shooting, hawking and horse racing. Recent commissions include those from the British Horseracing Board, Jockey Club, Injured Jockey's Fund, Spinal Injuries Association and Countryside Alliance.
He is also well-known in the Middle East where he travelled, originally to United Arab Emirates, and later to Saudi Arabia. Being an enthusiastic falconer he found much to draw him there and was soon being invited on hawking trips to North Africa and Pakistan with Arab falconers. As an artist Mark was able to put down on canvas the unique scenes he was able to witness while on these travels. He has been commissioned by many individuals and businesses in the Middle East to produce paintings of Arabia and Arab Hawking. He has also contributed to exhibitions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and had a joint exhibition with his uncle Peter Upton in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
His paintings are to be found in collections in many countries around the world including the USA, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong. As well as having paintings amongst the collection of the late Queen Mother he has also quite a following in Arabia with patrons among most of the Middle Eastern Royal Families, recently completing a large number of paintings for HRH Prince Fahad bin Sultan al Saud for his new Falconry Centre in Riyadh. Mark has also illustrated various books on falconry and Arabia
He exhibits in London and various country galleries. He also paints many commissions for hunts and private clients of horses and dogs.
Mark was recently married and lives near Marlborough in England.
